3D touch of a button

On the right side of the device you will find a small button that says “3D”. Clicking on it will change to a dedicated interface for 3D, and from there you can move the three-dimensional display. Once you have shown that rotating cube interface, which is of course displayed in 3D too. You can go to the photo gallery, go to Youtube 3D – you can shoot video in 3D. The video you’ve shot can be seen on the device screen without the need for special glasses, although because of the visual angle limit, only one person can see it clearly in 3D, so taking quick videos and showing them off on the spot to all your friends is out of the question unless you have a 3D TV to match it too.

The device has quite a large screen (4.3 inches) and sharp (480 × 800), it includes 8GB of internal memory with microSD card expansion option. It supports VCD playback DivX/XviD/H.264 files and HDMI port to display the content on external screen. Android Running on a system when the test was done was 2.2, a sheep-LG guarantee that it later upgraded to 2.3, the version delay was due to the custom interface added by LG.

Who needs 3D?
in our opinion, the 3D interface is convenient and useful, especially when LG has managed to centralize everything under one roof. When you move into 3D t, you feel a little strange, at first it was hard for us to get used to the new way of viewing, but to our surprise, everything worked and indeed 3D was smoothly and clearly displayed. We played a game and watched a video, and we can tell that 3D has added something unique to the experience , but it’s hard not to see it as nothing more than a nice gimmick we could get fed up with after a few uses.

The device is expected to reach Europe in May this year initially and may later also to the United States. The video shown below will not be able to display the 3D effect, but we believed it when we saw it.

What’s it all about?

Sharp are releasing 2 3D mobile phones, the touchscreen slate 003SH and the QWERTY-sliding 005SH.

Both has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and running Froyo android OS. THe also share the same screen resolution of 800X480 on a 3.8″ screen.

The 003SH has a 9.6 megapixel camera, while the 005SH has only 8 megapixels,  both are capable of 720p HD video.
The 003SH is about to be out this December, and the 005SH in February.

Seems like pretty interesting devices, hope to get a hold of them and report soon.

She is claiming in her article that there is a high propability that a 3D android phone is secretly being developed nowadays.

She is claiming that since there is no 3D phone available today, the early 3D bird will probably get all the attention (and the 3D worms). Also she is claiming that the first company to come out with a 3D phone will get the attention of all the media and will benefit from the spotlights being aimed towards the first device.

When trying to spot the first player to introduce such a phone, Elizabeth is betting on one of the three:

1. Sharp, which has recently announced it is working on a first 3D phone to be launched before year end

2. Motorola- That put all it’s chips on the android OS and now have  describes a phone with a translucent plastic cover, similar to its “Ming” and “Krave ZN4″ models. The company says that images that are viewed through the cover will look as three dimensional.

3.  Samsung is another Android supporting company. In May, it announced a 3D-capable handset (the “SCH-W960 AMOLED 3D”) for its home South Korean market. That phone uses Samsung’s own TouchWiz operating system, but Samsung, like Motorola, is also into Android.

Before this announcement Sharp unveiled its 3D panel technology which suitable for any small gadget like smartphone or tablet in April. We might also heard about the Mobile phone that let users view 3D images without special glasses for some time before, I think most people tend to look at the display from a fixed distance and angle on personal devices that’s why it won’t be difficult to offer a 3D function.

South Korean company Samsung Electronics officially showed at home a new 3D mobile phone model AMOLED 3D (SCH-W960), with many features, but the one that interested us the most  is the presence of AMOLED touchscreen display capable of displaying three-dimensional images without special glasses.

The phone has a special key on its side frame. And thanks to the acceleration sensor in the apparatus there is a function control your phone using gestures, when, for example, the sound of an incoming call can be disabled by turning the phone down the display. In addition, this phone has support for multitasking and a standard corporate interface Touch Wiz 2.0.

The phone will be available for local mobile operators – SKT, KT and LGT.

Well obviously we are exited about the 3D screen more then the rest of the stuff in the shopping bag, however it is kinda dissapointing that it will only be released for the Korean market… We want a piece of the pie too!

Sharp announces a 3D phone

It was just a matter of time that 3D phones will start emerging everywhere, after the emerging of 3D screens and games and 3d cameras embedded into mobile phones, now it’s the era of 3D screens for the latest smartphones.

Sharp are announcing that they will release a 3D phone by early 2011, however no data or pictures were released to backup that claim. I guess it’s still kinda early for these companies to reveal their plans while competition is starting to build up. We will update as soon as any other piece of info comes up

The concept is running on a Nokia N810 Internet Tablet and not on a phone at the moment but it is aimed to the mobile phone industry in addition to hand held devices.

Noka has not shared any info about the due date of such a device launch

A Nokia executive , revealed to Pocket-lint that the company has been working on 3D phones for “several years”, thats interesting and it might just be the right thing at the right time that will allow Nokia to get back on the horse
